This ornamental tree grows 1-2’ per year, reaching a max height of 15-20’. It grows well in various soil types. The fruits of the tree are an important food source for a variety of birds and other wildlife. It produces abundant maroon colored berry like drupes providing a vibrant pop of color to the landscape, and it is highly disease resistant. It can be used to pollinate other apple tree varieties, but bees tend to stay with the same flower color when foraging apple blossoms. If you intend to use the tree for cross pollination try to match the flower color of the crapapple to the apple variety.
