Large clusters of fragant, white flowers will bloom in the spring and are followed by clusters of large, dark, purple to black berries in late summer to fall. Fruit can be harvested for making wine and jam or left for wildlife. Soil conditions include alkaline soil, moist/well-drained soils. Plant the Elderberry bushes at least 8-10' a part to allow for growing room. Water frequently. They need to be planted in full sun during the spring. The Adams Elderberry requires another variety as a cross-pollinator. The York Elderberry will work as a cross-pollinator for this plant.
