Size: 3-4'

Red Oaks grow 1-2' per year reaching an average of 60-75 feet in height. It is popular for its clean growing pattern, beautiful fall color, usefulness, and its adaptability to urban areas. This tree does prefer acidic soils, but it is adaptable and known for tolerating pollution and compacted soils and has some drought tolerance. Wildlife prefer the acorns from the red oak tree over other food sources. They particularly attract blue jays, wild turkeys, squirrels, and deer. If pruned during the wrong time of year (warm season) it becomes highly susceptible to OAK WILT.
