Arbor Day - Yay!

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

Happy Arbor Day!

Every year we celebrate Arbor Day by planting trees in local parks. Together with volunteers, we’ve had the privilege of planting over 1,800 park trees for future generations to enjoy. As part of this year’s virtual Arbor Day celebration, we are sharing pictures that highlight our local tree planting efforts in Longway, Cronin, Atherton, Max Brandon, Brennan, Mott, Lewis Street, Burroughs, and Woodlawn Parks.

We are so proud to advocate for trees. Trees clean the air, help hold soil in place, filter pollutants, provide shade, shelter, building materials, food, habitat, create peaceful communities, and so much more. Even in difficult times, these essential workers never lie down on the job. So today, show some love to a tree. Give it a hug or just say “thank you tree” for all the contributions to our environment.

Did you know? The Arbor Day Foundation recognizes the dedicated tree work of at least 118 municipalities across Michigan that earned the Tree City, USA designation. Three cities in Genesee County, Clio, Davison, and Flint, have held this recognition for 10, 24, and 20 years respectively! Genesee Conservation District is honored to be an active partner.

Stay tuned throughout the year as we, together with you, strive to transform Genesee Earth Week into Earth Day Every Day. #GeneseeEarthWeek #EarthDayEveryDay
