Happy 50th Earth Day! 50 years ago today an estimated 20 million people around the United States took to the streets to spark change in USA environmental policy. This grassroots movement was the catalyst for the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and the Endangered Species Act. Fifty years later, the District continues conservation efforts here in Genesee County to protect and enhance natural resources and the environment for future generations.
Though we celebrate this Earth Day anniversary from home, there are actions you can take to help sustain our community's vital resources. -Test your knowledge. Show us how much you know by taking this Earth Day Quiz and sharing your score (you may even win a prize) https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-quizzes/ -Live it! Show your love for the Earth by participating in the Earth Day Challenge https://www.earthday.org/earth-day-challenge/ -Advocate. Let elected officials know that you support strong environmental protection policies.
-Take a moment to celebrate the splendor of Earth's natural environment that sustains life.
Stay tuned throughout the year as we, together with you, strive to transform Genesee Earth Week into Earth Day, Every Day. #GeneseeEarthWeek #EarthDayEveryDay
