The thick pyramidal conifer grows rapidly at 2’-3’ a year, reaching a maximum height of 60’ and spread of 12’-20’ at maturity. Soil conditions include dry to moist, moist, and moist to wet. Soil texture includes sandy loam to dense clay. It can withstand drought conditions after established. Low maintenance, requiring little to no pruning. This dense tree makes a great natural barrier that can withstand heavy snow or ice, while providing privacy, wind break, and shade. The thick evergreen provides shelter and food for wildlife while adding beauty to the landscape.
