The Northern Catalpa grows at a rate of 12"-24" a year with a maximum height of 40'-60' and a spread of 20'-40'. The preferred soil conditions are moist, well-drained soils that range from clay, loamy, or sandy. This tree does best when planted in the spring and should be pruned after one year of planting for good growth. Flowers attract insect pollinators.
