This conifer has a slow growth rate but will eventually reach 40'-70' tall with a spread of 15'-35' at maturity. The preferred soil conditions are acidic, moist, well-drained. It can tolerate wet sites. The Balsam Fir requires little to no pruning maintenance. If necessary, light pruning of deadwood can be done in the winter.
