This hardwood grows 12"-24" per year, reaching a maximum height of 40'-60’ and a spread of 35'-45' at maturity. Soil conditions include acidic, loamy, moist, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils. It prefers wet conditions, but can tolerate slight droughts. Red Maple samaras provide a food source for small mammals. This tree provides a beautiful red or yellow fall color.
