This hardwood deciduous grows >12"-24" per year, reaching a maximum height of 40-60’ and a spread of 40' at maturity. Soil conditions include acidic, loamy, moist, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils. It prefers wet conditions, but can tolerate slight drought.
Red Maple samaras provide a food source for small mammals. This tree provides an beautiful red or yellow fall color.
