Redbud trees tolerate a wide range of soil conditions, including acidic, loamy, moist, rich, sandy, well-drained, and clay soils, but do not do well in overly wet areas. It produces pea-like pods, and purplish-pink flowers in April that attract butterflies and other nectar seeking insects.
