This small shrub grows 12"-24" per year reaching a max height of 6'-12'. This shrub prefers loam or clay soils that are well drained and moist. It produces flowers in clusters in early spring, followed by glossy red fruit that provide a food source for a variety of wildlife. The fruit and foliage is aromatic, and the shrub turns a colorful golden-yellow in the fall.
