Spruce, Norway

Medium to fast growth to a height of 40-60' and a 25-30' spread; fibrous, deep spreading roots. Soil conditions include: dry to moist soils with acidic, loamy, moist, sandy, well-drained, and clay soils.

This is a large tree when it matures, think of it as a multi-level skyscraper for birds. Its thick foliage give birds a great place for nesting, roosting, and cover from predators and winter weather. Many animals, large and small, use this tree for cover and shelter including grouse, woodcock, and hares. While the tree is used by owls and hawks for roosting, it is common to see an eagle or osprey perched atop theses towering forest kings.
