This evergreen conifer grows at a medium rate of 1-2' per year, reaching a maximum height of 30’-50’ and a spread of 20’ at maturity. Ideal soil conditions vary from dry to moist and sand to clay, but prefers well-drained soil with ample moisture. This is a full tree with a pleasing shape and aroma. It will provide a dense shelter for wildlife, a windbreak, and shade. Its most common uses are as a Chrsitmas tree or windbreak. Grossbeaks and red breasted nuthatches enjoy the seed, and the foliage is often eaten by grouse, rabbits, and deer.
